Small Farm Website Templates

Well, there are a few options.

The first thing I suggest is looking through the templates to see if any of them could be adjusted a bit to work for you. For instance, if you sell whole/half beef you could use the Dottie template and replace all the “CSA” pages/sections with “Whole/Half Beef” info. If you want help thinking through which template might work for you, just let me know.

Another option is to add additional pages onto an existing template. Love the Bumbie template but sell CSA shares? You can create a new CSA page or repurpose an existing page and use it for CSA. You can also hire me to create these new pages for you, which will still be a more affordable option than a custom designed site.

The other option is to let me know what you need/want from a template! Chances are there are other farms out there who want something similar and I may be able to add it to the template shop.

I recommend you ask yourself the following questions before you buy a template from my template shop. If you answer yes, then a template could be the perfect solution for you. 

• Do you need or want a nice website for your farm?

• Is a custom built website out of your budget?

• Are you hesitant to build a site totally from scratch because you lack time, confidence, technical skills, or design skills?

• Do you already know how to use Squaespace or are you willing to learn how?

• Would you benefit from having helpful PDFs that will guide you through creating the content for your website, collecting customer testimonials, and more?

When you buy a template from my template shop what you’ll actually be getting is a brand new website that looks just like the demo site in the store. You’ll receive an invitation to be a contributor to the site and once you accept that invitation the site will be yours. 

You will then swap out the placeholder text and photos for your own and to update the fonts, colors, and logo. Once you’re done, you’ll connect your domain name and launch your site.

Absolutely! The base price for customization is $600 (in addition to the price of the template). All you would need to do is give me all the finalized content (text, images, colors, fonts, logos) so I can use it to customize your template.

If you would like help strategizing about content, writing text, choosing/compressing images, choosing colors or fonts, setting up a blog or adding additional pages, or if you would like help connecting your domain, launching your site, submitting your site to Google for indexing, or anything else, I will charge an additional fee for that. Depending on your needs we will either agree on a project price or I will charge my hourly rate.

Great question. There are several reasons why buying a farm website template is a good choice. For one, these templates are designed by someone (me!) who is super familiar with small farms so they’re strategically designed to help your farm succeed in an increasingly online world. These are not just generic templates for any small business; they are made specifically for farmers like you.

Also, these templates come with some helpful guides ( a site-building checklist, a copy writing guide, SEO tips, photo guidelines, a content and style checklist, and a worksheet to help you clarify your farm’s message). These guides will help you as you customize the template and give you peace of mind that you have a site that will help your farm thrive.

And, if you still have questions…I’m here to help. Unlike the Squarespace support people (who are amazing for helping with technical issues and Squarespace specific problems) I actually have a background in farming and farm marketing and can help you in a deeper, more specific way.

The templates I sell cannot be applied to other sites. If you have an existing site that you would like to upgrade, I recommend you buy a template, customize it for your farm, transfer the domain, and cancel your old site. In my experience, Squarespace is relatively easy for people to learn and overall simpler and more intuitive than many of the other platforms. I also think it is easier to make something beautiful with Squarespace, even without a design background. Plus, an added bonus is that Squarespace has really good customer support — super knowledgeable real people for live chat, and extensive help guides and tutorials.

These templates are build using Squarespace 7.1 and cannot be transferred to a different website builder.

No, you don’t need to be a computer wiz. If you feel comfortable using Powerpoint or Canva or Mailchimp, you will probably feel comfortable learning Squarespace. There is a learning curve of course, but your site building checklist will link to Squarespace guides that will talk you through each step of customization so you won’t be left to figure everything out on your own.

If you’re overwhelmed by the idea of building your site using a template but you don’t have the budget for a custom site, send me an email and let me know. Depending on my availability I may be able to build your site from the template for you, which will cost somewhere between the template price and the custom site price.

When you build your site with Squarespace, it will automatically be secured with a free SSL certificate. When you buy a template from me I will provide a link to a Squarespace resource that will help you ensure that your site is set up to be secure.

As a website owner, you are required to provide a privacy policy on your site that explains to your users how you collect and use their data. While I cannot provide legal advice about this, or about the security of your site in general, I will provide resources that will help you navigate this. Yes! Squarespace sites are great on small phone screens. Your template will be designed for both desktop and mobile viewing and your site-building checklist will provide information about editing your mobile site.

Nope! It’s really important to me that these templates are as easy to use as possible, so there is no custom code in any of the templates.

One of the first things you will do when you start customizing your template is change the colors and fonts and add your own logo. Even just doing these little things makes a huge difference in how the site looks. Once you add in your own photos and text, it will really begin to look different from the original template.

Sure, the design and layout will generally stay the same, but there are a few reasons why this doesn’t actually matter:

1) Having a well designed, customer focused, easy to maintain site is far more important than having a totally custom built site. And it’s definitely better than having a stressful DIY site that looks a mess.

2) Your customers just want you to have a site that is easy for them to navigate and provides the info they want and need. I am quite certain they will be very happy with your new site, even if they know it is built from a template. After all, they would rather you spend your time growing food than agonizing over your website.

3) As you gain confidence and comfort with Squarespace, you will be able to tweak the design and make little changes to the layout to personalize it even more.
